VCM Coil
VCM (Voice Coil Motor) Coil‌ As the core component of auto-focus actuators in smartphones, tablets, digital cameras and other devices, VCM coils work on the same principle as speaker voice coils: when energized, they generate Lorentz force in the permanent magnet field, driving the lens to move micron-level along the optical axis to achieve auto-focus. VCM coils require extreme miniaturization, ultra-fine wire diameter and moderate turn count, usually adopting hollow bobbinless structure or with an ultra-thin plastic bobbin. They demand ultra-high shape accuracy, consistent electrical parameters, and can withstand millions of reciprocating motions without wire breakage. Zhongshan Eternal provides high-precision fully automatic VCM coil production lines, supporting square, round and racetrack-shaped coils, with optional integrated auto dispensing & curing, resistance testing and visual inspection functions.

I. Common Winding Types for VCM Coils

  1. Self-Bonding Hollow Winding
Wound with self-adhesive enameled wire on precision winding molds, then heated to bond turns together for shaping before demolding. Ideal for most smartphone VCM coils. The line requires integrated heating bonding system and precision demolding mechanism.

  2. Bobbin-based Winding
Single or multi-layer winding on ultra-thin plastic bobbins, with the bobbin acting as structural support for easy assembly. The line features automatic bobbin feeding and strict wire arrangement control to prevent overhang beyond bobbin boundaries.

  3. Square/Racetrack Trajectory Winding
VCM coils are usually square or racetrack-shaped (semicircular ends with straight sides) to fit rectangular lens modules. The line supports X-Y axis linkage interpolation to achieve precision wire arrangement for non-circular trajectories.

  4. Dual-Wire Parallel Winding
Two enameled wires of identical or different gauges are wound side by side simultaneously, designed for dual-drive configurations or enhanced thrust. The equipment features independent dual-wire tension control and synchronized wire arrangement.

II. Advantages of Automated VCM Coil Production Lines

  1. Stable Tension Control for Ultra-Fine Wires, Ultra-Low Breakage Rate
VCM coils use extremely fine wires that are nearly impossible to wind manually. Yite lines adopt low-inertia servo tension mechanisms and anti-static wire guides, paired with buffer swing arms to minimize dynamic tension fluctuation, ensuring low wire breakage during long continuous production runs.

  2. Precise Coil Dimensioning for Perfect Assembly Alignment
VCM coils must maintain precise clearance fit with magnets, requiring ultra-tight form tolerance. Automated lines use closed-loop wire arrangement systems, high-rigidity machine frames and demolding positioning pins to ensure consistent coil profile across batches, eliminating the need for secondary reshaping.

  3. In-line Dispensing & Curing for Higher Productivity
After winding, quick-drying adhesive is automatically dispensed or self-bonding wires are thermally cured, skipping separate baking processes and enabling direct transition to assembly lines. The integrated winding + dispensing + testing cell delivers fast cycle time to meet high-volume production demands.
